
It is with great disappointment that I could not attend my dear cousin Sherman’s memorial.  I had been exposed to Covid twice before I knew he had passed. I am so grateful to Sherman’s family for posting all the wonderful pictures showing highlights of his contributions to our world. I looked at all of them.   I had talked to Sherm on the phone & visited him many times  at family functions over the last few years.  I enjoyed seeing him & Donna at the family reunion, after the Greensburg tornado & in 2015.  I am happy we got together in April of 2015 to reminisce about our childhood fun at grandma Sophie’s home in Horton.  We had so many good times as kids & teenagers.  I am sad to lose him so soon.  I offer my sincere condolences to his darling family whom he spoke of with great pride & affection, and to my sweet cousin Karen.

Best. Neighbor. Ever.  Living across from Sherm and Donna was an adventure that Kari and I will never, ever forget.  So many great memories - Halloweens, Porch Visits, Lawn Makeovers, July 4th Block Parties, and on, and on. "Sherm" has a special place in my life, he was a neighbor in my childhood. I remember celebrating the 4th of July at Donna and Sherms', and Kathy and Bills'. I also remember his incredible shop where, when my bicycle chain broke in front of his house, he told me he "probably had something to fix that." Of course I'll never forget the Phantom halloween display, which is still one of the best Broadview has ever had. A true gentleman, a brilliant man, and a kind soul. An inspiration. You will be missed but never forgotten, sir. Bless your soul.
