

William (Bill) J. McIntosh 84, Born and raised in Birmingham, MI Bill graduated Baldwin High School in 1951. He retired from the Army in October 1970 and Area Manager of the FAA South Bend Area in 1990. Bill started his service enlisting in the Army Guard in 1948 and was discharged in 1950. He began service in the US Air Force, where he served 16 years before joining the US Army where he retired in 1970 with a rank of Chief Warrant Office 2. During the Cuban missile crises, Bill’s crew was dispatched to McCoy AFB in Florida where they flew low-level reconnaissance missions around and over Cuba. He served three tours during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 5 bronze stars, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Air Medal. Bill is proceeded in death by parents, Lloyd (Mac) and Mary McIntosh; brother and sister Doug and Irene; and wife Laurel McIntosh. He is survived by his 6 children, Erin Pittman, David McIntosh, Doug (John Newland) McIntosh, Jim (Cherai) McIntosh, Scott McIntosh, and Katy (Steve) Gantz; wife Joe Ellan McInnis; step children Tonya Bender (McInnis) and Rod S McInnis; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held 6-8 pm on Thursday May 18th at Resthaven Mortuary, with services 1:00 pm Friday May 19th at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
