Pat R. Green passed away peacefully with his family at his side on November 30, 2017, at the age of 78. Pat was born in Holdenville, OK to Ethel and Chester Green. Pat was preceded in death by both parents and his six siblings: Paul, Johnny, Lester, Jerry, Larry, and Della. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1958, followed by two years of active U.S. Navy duty. Pat was a respected glazier who worked with family-owned glass companies in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Pat married his high school sweetheart, Christine “Chris” Rupp, in 1961. They lived most of their married life in Auburn, WA, raising two daughters Elisa (Kevin) Ludviksen and Cindy (Dave) Tipton. Their grandchildren include Kyle and Brent Ludviksen, and Katie Tipton.
In 2005, Pat and Chris moved to Wilbur, WA. Pat wanted to escape all of the people, traffic, and chaos of the suburbs after retirement. This was Pat’s "heaven on earth" where he could look out over miles of beautiful farmland, walk through a flock of wild turkeys just outside his front door, watch owls and other birds perching outside his window, and hear the barking of coyotes and their cubs at night. He loved to ride around their 80 acres on his quad and cut the field grass with his beautiful red tractor (or sometimes simply to push dirt and snow around). He was an avid hunter and fisherman, yet he equally loved watching the many deer that roamed his farm, getting to know the individual animals and their families. He also loved boating and fishing on Lake Roosevelt with Chris and other friends and family. Another favorite pastime was to sneak away together to Northern Quest Resort and Casino and often see a concert. Pat never revealed his win/loss record, but they always seemed to get their room comped.
Pat was a man of few words, but he taught his children and grandchildren the importance of hard work and respect, with a touch of humor. We are heartbroken that he left this world so soon. He’s in God’s hands now, and assume he greeted him with his favorite saying, “Glad you get to see me!” You will be missed by all who knew and loved you. We will forever treasure our memories.
Strate Funeral Home of Wilbur, WA is assisting the family.
