

Carveth was born to Meredith Leslie and Christine (Brooks) Clements on August 21, 1933, in Brownwood, Texas. He was named after an author of a book his father had read. Carveth played in the band and graduated Brownwood High School in 1950 at the age of 16. He received a band scholarship to Howard Payne University for one year, and later attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he also played in the band. In 1953 Carveth joined the United States Navy and served as a Communications Technician.
In 1957 Carveth moved to El Paso, Texas and began working at El Paso Natural Gas Company where he enjoyed a 36 year career. His older brothers wife introduced him to Carol Hoffman and it was Love at first Sight. The were married September 27, 1957 in El Paso, Texas. He spent several years coaching little league sports, and always involved in civic activities. He retired in 1993 and moved back to his hometown of Brownwood Texas where he stayed very active on the golf course.
Carveth is survived by his wife Carol, his son Steve Clements and wife Michelle of The Villages, Florida; Granddaughter Sarah Riley and husband Ian of Austin, Texas; Grandson Jacob Kinkaid and fiancé Marisol Romero of Austin, Texas; 3 Great Grandchildren, Harper, Knox, and Rome.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Luke Clements, Don Clements, and Jerry Clements; his sons, David Clements, and Mike Clements, and his daughter Debbie Kinkaid.
