Charles V Roark Jr, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and veteran passed away on January 5, 2026. Born in Wilton Ct Charles committed himself to service early in life. He served with the United States Marine Corps for four years. Following his military service, he began a distinguished career with the United States Postal Service. For over 30 years, Charles was a familiar face and a reliable presence in his community, retiring in 1992 with a legacy of hard work and dedication.
While his professional life was marked by duty, his personal life was defined by his family. He was a father of three children: Jeffery Roark, Shelley Mallory and Dennis Roark. Dad watched his family grow over the years to include 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry their own unique memories of him. Most notably, Charles was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Kathy. Her passing in 2021 marked the end of a long chapter they built together. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ellen Andrews and Charles V Roark Sr, his brother Carl and his sister Nona.
Nothing brought out his spirit quite like baseball. A passionate fan, he spent countless hours following his favorite team, the Tampa Bay Rays. Baseball is a “quiet” game of statistics and patience – it’s a perfect metaphor for a man who expressed himself through his interests rather than his emotions. I will miss “Pop” deeply. He was never one for big speeches or grand gestures, but he was a constant in my life that I wasn’t ready to lose. I will miss him in my own way, every single day.
