Nevin R. Border (93) of New Haven, Ohio entered into heaven Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home. He was born June 19, 1925 in Bascom, Ohio to the late Jason L. and Chloe (Haugh) Border. Mr. Border farmed and later was the owner and operator of Border’s Market in Plymouth and was awarded a life membership with the Ohio Association of Meat Processors. He provided home health care in the 1950’s, and taught industrial arts for a year at New Haven School. Mr. Border served as New Haven Township Trustee for 19.5 years and was a member of the former Delphi United Methodist Church where he served as a lay pastor for 5 years. He also played baritone horn in the Mid Ohio Band and the Gang Band.
Mr. Border was married August 25, 1946 to Ardinell J. (Ritzenthaler) Border who preceded him in death on December 12, 2015. He is survived by Son: Mike (Judy) Border of Lexington. 3 daughters: Michelle (Joe) Gerhardstein of Sandusky, Martha (Niels) Rogers of Bellville, and Mary (Reggie) Ganzhorn of Plymouth. 7 grandchildren: Jeremiah Dawson, Sarah (Brad) Bohland, Mary Lynn (Andy) Wamsley, Angela Andersen, Erica (Josh) Bloomingdale, Katie (Rance) Smith and Dianna (Josh) White. 7 great grandchildren: Jacob and Magnus Andersen, William and Evelyn Smith, Ella Joy Dawson, Roy and Noah White. Brother: Dean L. (Barbara) Border of Newark. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son: Dwight Border, 3 brothers: Clayton, Dale and Donald Border and infant sister: Thelma Border.
Family and friends may call Friday, April, 26, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Lifepoint Community Church, 260 Riggs Street, Plymouth, Ohio and on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Rich Hurles officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday at the Sand Ridge Cemetery in Bascom, Ohio.
