

Born on April 21, 1930 to Albert James and Elizabeth Bills of Hawthorne, NJ, Al’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. Family was at the heart of Al’s life, as demonstrated by his enduring 68-year marriage to his wife Jane.
He is survived by his wife Jane; his son Al and wife Linda; daughter Joy and husband John; and son Jeff. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Shawn, Brian, Jen, Jamie, Ryan, Justin, Hailie, Kaijsa; and one great-granddaughter, Corrine.
Al was extremely patriotic as a veteran of the United States Army – serving overseas in the Korean War. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Williamsburg, where he served for many years. He also served with the Chickahominy Masonic Lodge No. 286, where he recently received a distinguished award for serving for 70 years.
Al had a kind and gentle heart and worked in various capacities with the youth in his community. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Al’s family invites you to honor his memory at a memorial gathering on Saturday, September 23, at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. There will be a Masonic service at 1:30 PM, followed by a church service at 2:00 PM.
