Albert “Al” Todres, 84 years old, passed away on July 16, 2021 at his home in Williamsburg, VA. He was born on May 18, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, where he graduated from Erasmus Hall High School and later earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from New York University. He was married for 53 years to the love of his life and best friend, Ellen Murray Todres. Together they enjoyed a happy and rewarding life. After moving from New York City, they lived and worked in the Washington, D.C. area for 42 years before moving to Williamsburg from McLean, VA, in 2014. He was an executive for several associations, most recently the Building Owners and Managers Association. Being enthusiastic tennis buffs, and players in the past, Al and Ellen enjoyed many trips to Wimbledon, the Davis Cup, and the US Open. His other interests included military history, the Civil War, the presidency, theatre, classic movies and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Grey Todres; and his sister, Pauline Berger. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, who lives at Williamsburg Landing. Memorial contributions may be made to The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., and the American Civil Liberties Union (UCLU).
