Obituary of Andrew Henry Wallner

IN THE CARE OF

Nelsen Williamsburg

Andrew Henry Wallner, 74, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021 in Williamsburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Andrew Wallner. He was born in Yonkers, NY, September 13, 1946 and lived in the Bronx, NY, until his work brought him to Williamsburg, VA, in January 1979. Andrew was a proud graduate of Dewitt Clinton H.S. in the Bronx, NY. He completed his undergraduate work at City College of New York and his Masters in Business Administration at Fordham University. Andrew had more than 40 years of professional business experience from both public and private sectors – from the ‘old’ Bell System as a Human Resource Manager to a major metropolitan hospital center in NYC to a premier naval architecture and marine engineering firm – which brought him to Virginia. Andrew moved to the VA Dept. of Fire Programs in Richmond in 1998 and retired in 2012. He was also a member of St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Most recently, his cherished title was Grandpa to his two granddaughters Margaux and Gwyneth. He loved American history – particularly Revolutionary and Civil War history. Many family vacations were spent touring Civil War battlefields – especially Gettysburg. So his immediate family thinks it is fitting that he should leave us on the 4th of July! Survivors include his wife, Kathy; daughter, Katy Will (Jeff); sons, Andrew Wallner (Clare) and Matthew Wallner (Annie); grandchildren, Margaux, Gwyneth, Eva, Lilith and Gabriel. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Riverside Foundation – Dr. Mark Ellis Endowment Fund, 701 Town Center Drive, Suite 1000, Newport News, VA 23606 (www.riversideonline.com), which supports the Cancer Institute where Andrew was treated. A funeral mass will be held for Andrew on Saturday, July 17, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 W. Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033. Burial will immediately follow mass at the Hershey Cemetery, 100 E. Mansion Road East, Hershey, PA 17033. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow at 2 p.m. at The Tattered Flag Brewery, 251 W. Chocolate Avenue. A block of double-bedded rooms has been set aside at the Quality Inn Hershey Area, 200 North Mountain Road 17112. Call Chiggy at 717-540-9339. Thank you for all your loving support this past year!
