Anne Freeman Dail, 86, born July 20, 1935 in Newport News, VA to Nelson Bernard Freeman and Margaret Holland Freeman of Gloucester, VA, entered into her eternal rest on May 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband James T. Dail Jr. (1992) and beloved son, John A. Dail (2011). She is survived by her brother Nelson Bernard (Bernie) Freeman, Jr of Gloucester, VA; son James T. (Tommy) Dail III of Knoxville, TN (Karen); and daughter Anita M. Gooch of Oconto, WI (Jim). Anne was preceded by death by several sisters-in-laws; Leona (Wade) Russell of Newport News, VA and Carolyn (Jimmy) Skinner of Yorktown, VA; and brother-in-law Rufus K.(Jean) Dail of Newport News, VA.. Surviving sisters-in-laws are Neola (Bill) Adams, Centerville, VA, Betty (Harvey) Phillips of Ashland VA, and Peggy (Jerry) White of Newport News, VA. Anne leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Amanda (Jordan) Kramer of Nashville, TN. Dr. Elizabeth (Chris) Foreman of Charlotte, NC. James (Staci) Dail, IV of Nashville, TN. John (Dori) Gooch of Kampala, Uganda, Miriam (Wes) Burkholder of Summerville, PA. Jacob (Linda) Gooch of Woodbridge, VA. Leah (Wes) Miller of Kewaunee, WI. Samuel Gooch of Antigo, WI and Mark Gooch of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves behind 17 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was a 4-H leader for several years teaching Horsemanship skills to the local youth groups in the area. She also operated a riding & horse boarding facility on Fetlock Farm in Williamsburg, VA. Some of the most treasured memories were the times the grandchildren came to experience farm life and learn many skills that would stay with them for a lifetime. Anne was a devoted wife and mother to her family. She thoroughly loved and enjoyed her personal relationship with Christ and her church fellowship. She attended The Williamsburg Seventh Day Adventist Church. Many who knew Anne were touched by her unwavering faith and love for the Lord. She willingly shared the gospel with others and inspired her family by her relationship with the Savior. Anne was an active participant in church activities and Bible studies for many years. She will be greatly missed by her family and the family wishes to express appreciation for all who loved and cared for Anne. We know with great joy that she is in the presence of Jesus. Funeral service will be private and interment will be at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA alongside her deceased husband.
