
BJ "Jim" Walker, 79, passed away on September 28, 2015. He was born May 9, 1936 and grew up in Mount Hope, West Virginia. He and his first wife, Shirley, lived in Woodbury, Minnesota where they raised three daughters. BJ was a 37 year employee of UNIVAC/Sperry/Unisys, where he was Director of Operations in Roseville. His passion was serving as a volunteer paramedic and fireman for the Woodbury Fire Department where he was also business administrator and rescue captain. He was a charter member of the Woodbury Jaycees and Woodbury Lions Club and was most proud of his work with the Woodbury planning commission, as the community grew from a township of 3,000 to a city of 67,000 residents. BJ later moved to Northern Virginia and remarried, helping raise two step-children. BJ and his wife, Linda, moved to Williamsburg in 2007 for their retirement home.
BJ is preceded in death by his parents Oswald and Dorothy Walker. He is survived by his wife Linda Walker; daughters Dawn Walker of Woodbury MN, Stephanie Walker Huss (Phil) of Durango CO, Cheryl Walker Vatsaas (Rick) of Eagan MN; step-children Brad Mowery (Lauren) of Williamsburg VA, and Michelle Mowery of Falls Church, VA; sister Sally Slack (Bob) of Charleston WV, brothers Tim Walker (Nancy) of Vernon CT and Bill Walker of Houston TX; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10th at 1:00 pm at Wellspring Methodist Church in Williamsburg. The funeral will be followed by an open house reception from 3:00 until 5:30 at Colonial Heritage Clubhouse in Williamsburg.
