

Carleen started in banking at 15 years old, working her way up to Branch Manager and then Regional Director. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Business/Accounting.
Through her career, she has worked as a Controller for a Fortune 500 company, restaurant business, insurance broker and Williamsburg Community Hospital. In January 2000, Carleen established Peterson Accounting, Inc. She is also an enrolled agent with the IRS, a certified QuickBooks Trainer as well as Pro Adviser with QuickBooks.
Her business accomplishments include having been nominated for the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Person of the Year and started her own networking group, the Williamsburg Business Alliance, for several years.
Carleen has served on the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Women’s Network, from 2006-2008, was the Treasurer for Williamsburg Business Professionals from 2008-2010, as well as past Treasurer for York County Chamber from 2011 -2013 and as Treasurer of the their Home Owners Association.
A supporter of community-oriented programs, Carleen has contributed to organizations including the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, ALS Foundation, and the ASPCA.
Carleen loved to travel and studying the Bible. She was a devout Christian and loved God, first and foremost and she loved to minister, without hesitation, to those who asked her to pray for them. Her and Larry love their church, James City Community Church (aka JC3) in Williamsburg, VA, led by Pastor Sam and Myra and getting to know all of the wonderful members who have become friends.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Larry; their four-legged animals, Jasper and Riesling; her sister, Pam (and Scott); father-in-law, Zol and mother-in-law, Pat; brothers-in law, Zolt (and Jo Ann), Matt (and Hannah) and Mark (and Terri); their nephews, Matt (and Christina; and grandnieces, Olivia and Ava), James, Matt (and Rachel), Shane (and fiancée Gabby), Zoli (and Lysle) and their nieces, Ashlee, Selene (and fiancée Mark), Ashley (and Jess, grandnieces Neveah and Jayden), Lindsay (and John, grandnephew Cohen, grandnieces Everly and Haddie), Camryn, Sydni and Lili; as well many friends and clients.
Service will be held at James City Community Church, 4550 Old News Road, Williamsburg, Virginia, on May 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
