Catherine A. Ivey (53) went to her heavenly home July 10, 2018. The devotion of her family and friends along with her unwavering faith in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Cathy was born to the late John F. and Gwendolyn Burns in Oakland, CA on March 10, 1965. She spent her childhood growing up in Virginia Beach, VA, then living in Williamsburg, VA for many years before becoming a resident of Gloucester, VA in 1997. She had worked at Dr. Timothy A. Leigh D.D.S. for the last 15 years.
Cathy radiated genuine inner and outer beauty, and will be remembered for her gorgeous smile, kind heart and her passionate spirit and faith. Her desire to grow and share her love of Jesus allowed her to make profound connections with so many people and created lifelong bonds that transformed friends into family.
Cathy will be forever cherished by her devoted husband and soul mate of 27 years Steve W. Ivey and precious children, C.J. Pickin and Zachery Ivey; sister, Debi Burcham and her husband, Bart; brother, John F. Burns, Jr.; and she will be remembered by her dear nephews, nieces, extended family and friends who were blessed to know her.
You have been a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend - we will miss you dearly. You have brought love and grace to your family and friends that will fill our hearts each day we think of you.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at 3:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, with a reception following the service. Online condolences may be shared at www.nelsencares.com.
