Born in Baltimore, she was preceded in death by her father and mother, William Richard. and Naomi Gertrude Wendel (nee Calvert); her late husband of 69 years, Leonard Edwin Jakobowski and was a descendant of the Custis and Calvert families. Dotti graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1948 and was married to Leonard "Len" following his service in World War II and the Korean War and together they shared a beautiful life with many friends and raising their son Mark. She followed her husband’s travels working in government service in the Midwest, but they would ultimately come to settle back in the Baltimore and Annapolis area.
She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star in Toledo, Ohio, and after moving back to Maryland was an active member of the Bay Hills Country Club near Annapolis. Dotti was a Maryland girl through and through. She loved spending her summers on the Magothy River picking crabs and boating. She loved thoroughbred horse racing and visited the turf all over the country with Len during the racing seasons and was an avid Orioles and Colts/Ravens fan who rarely missed a game. She valued her position as a member of the “Colts Corral” and for many years received birthday cards from her hero, Johnny Unitas.
She was strong, deep and abiding in her Catholic faith and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life reading the newspaper, cutting out articles of interest and religiously working on the daily crossword puzzles. Her first job was her lifelong favorite as the office manager for the Seaboard Fish and Seafood Company in Baltimore. She spoke often of her experiences there and enjoyed a long and professionally fulfilling life working until she was 89 for Brown’s Automobile dealerships in accounting and driving well into her 90’s. Dotti and Len were well-known regulars at the Sunset Restaurant in Glen Burnie.
She is survived by her only son, Mark Michael Jakobowski; daughter-in-law, Lynne Cowing Jakobowski; and granddaughter, Alexandra Kristen Marie Jakobowski.
