

Erle was born on August 14, 1932 in Starksboro, Vermont to Harold and Gertrude (Maxfield) Hill. He graduated from Hinesburg High School on 1950 and served his country by joining the Air Force. He was also the Fire Captain of Starksboro Volunteer Fire Department.
After moving to Williamsburg, VA, he joined Jack L. Massie Contractor, Inc. in 1987 and became the Building Superintendent for the Cokes Lane campus. Erle was a certified aggregate technician, master tradesman, family member and beloved friend of the Massie family. In 2011, he joined J.S.G. Corporation and became the Mine Superintendent until his retirement in 2015.
In addition to being a jack of all trades, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Alan Hill and his son, Mark Hill. Survivors include his beloved wife, Jeanne (Pepin) Hill; and daughters Trudie Orvis and husband Steve, Lori McDurfe and husband, David and Robin Hill; sisters Dorothy Jean Romprey and Joan Taylor; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to their favorite charity in Erle’s name, God’s Mighty Servant.
Services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11am.
