During the War, her dad, Val Hopkins Sr., relocated her family to Hilton Village where Geneva would meet and marry the love of her life, Louis H. Hunt, Jr. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary before his passing in December 2022. Geneva is survived by her sister, Jean Harrell; brother, Val Hopkins, Jr, (Sally); four children, Ben Hunt (Susan), Robert Hunt, Anne Hunt Granger (Doug) and Amy Hunt Shaifer (Peter); her grandchildren, Lauren Hunt Fournier (Brian), Scott Granger (Peter Brannigan), Jesse Granger Izquierdo (Julian), Gordon Granger, Ben Granger (Elizabeth), Daniel Shaifer, Drew Shaifer and Jacob Shaifer; and her great-grandchildren, Harper and Turner Fournier, and Julia Izquierdo.
Geneva made it 'her career' to create a home founded on love, faith, and friendship. Her faithful devotion and love to support Louis had no bounds as they together raised their children. Mom was one of the 'original ubers' as she carted her kids to school, ball practice, games, church and beyond. While a member of Grace Baptist Church, she become the Mistress of Ceremony for more than 100 weddings and receptions at the church. If there was a church social, her lemon or coconut pound cake would be there. When the kids were a bit older, she worked at Grace as the church secretary often binging home the Sunday bulletins to be folded after she completed her 'mom' duties. Later Louis and Geneva moved their church membership to Liberty Baptist Church.
Geneva was very involved in the local garden clubs holding various positions to include club president, council president, flower show chairman and later served on the Tidewater District Council and as State President. She was instrumental in establishing the first Williamsburg Arbor Day program and remained involved until its last program in 2023.
Geneva and Louis moved to Brookdale in 2021 where she immediately became involved in daily activities and events to include being elected to the Resident's Council. Her home there was no different and filled with love and friendship. Her candy bar was open to any and all who stopped by to visit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa and Grace Baptist Church, Williamsburg.
