H. Scott Wagner of Williamsburg, Virginia, died on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. He was born on May 25, 1937 to Martha S. Wagner and A. Harry Wagner in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended schools in Hamden, Connecticut and Richmond, Virginia, graduating from John Marshall High School, Class of 1955. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Richmond College of the University of Richmond, Class of 1959, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
Scott is survived by Mary Lou Walden Wagner, his wife of 58 years; sons, David S. Wagner, Jeffrey S. Wagner (Dwyn Lacey), and Stephen C. Wagner (Erin V. Wagner); grandchildren, Andrew (Emma B. Wagner), Lora, Harry, Amanda, Rachel, Nicole, Mackenzie and Shelby; and great-grandchildren, Henley and Teagan.
Scott began his career at the U.S. Naval Propellant Plant in Indian Head, Maryland followed by service at Amcell Propulsion Co. in Asheville, North Carolina, and 34 years of service at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in Hampton, Virginia, retiring in 1998.
Scott was a member of the Bruton Parish Church; Sons of the American Revolution, Williamsburg Chapter; and the Tidewater Genealogical Society.
A memorial service will be held at Bruton Parish Church, 331 W. Duke of Gloucester Street, Williamsburg on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. A reception will follow at Windsor Meade Retirement Community, 3900 Windsor Hall Drive, Williamsburg. Inurnment will be at Westhampton Memorial Park in Richmond, Virginia at a later date.
