Jane was born on July 10, 1939 and grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey with her brother, Raymond F. Giegerich, Jr. Their parents were Mildred W. Giegerich (née Stein) and Raymond F. Giegerich, Sr. Jane went to St. Genevieve's Church grade school, which is where her parents first met. She obtained a bachelor's degree from St. Elizabeth's College and later earned a master's degree in Social Work at Kean University. She was a school social worker in Eatontown and Fairfield, NJ.
Jane met Bob (the late Robert E. Busch, Sr.) her beloved husband for 59 years, at a Valentine’s Day dance at St. Elizabeth's College. They raised their children, Robert Edward, Jr. and Pamela Jane Murphy (Thomas), in Elizabeth and Roseland, NJ.
Jane and Bob retired to Williamsburg in 2001 to be close to Pam and Tom and their family and everything to do with Colonial Williamsburg. They were devoted to their grandchildren, Leo and Sasha. Jane and Bob were fortunate to have wonderful neighbors and to quickly develop friendships when they moved to their new state and town. They would often remark that their times at their house at Lakeside Circle were "bonus years" that brought them immense joy.
Jane's hobbies included following research findings and fund raising for the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She was an avid reader of the New York Times and Washington Post and was quick to point out the latest news on well-being, priding herself in maintaining her health and overseeing Bob's (at times to his chagrin). Jane could often be seen at the yoga studio, walking in the neighborhood, and later doing chair yoga and getting her steps in with her rollator.
Jane is survived by her brother, Ray and his wife Fran; beloved cousins, her children, grandchildren, a multitude of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and incredible friends that she made over the decades. Although the pandemic, Bob's health, and then Jane's needs kept them from seeing their family and friends as much as they would have liked, they valued those relationships and held them close to their hearts. The family would like to thank the Brookdale Chambrel community of staff and residents who helped make Jane and Bob's last few years ones of care, comfort, and companionship.
To honor Jane's memory, please celebrate her life in a way that has special meaning for you.
