

Joseph M. Sizoo passed away suddenly on October 17, 2015. He had resided in Williamsburg, Va. since 1976. He was born in Somerville, NJ, June 20, 1920, to the late Rev. Dr. Joseph R. Sizoo and Florence M. Sizoo.
His education at Williams College was interrupted by service in World War II from 1941 to 1946 in the US Army Air Corps. He graduated from George Washington University in Washington D.C. and served as a special agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1950 to retirement in 1975. He was assigned to the Domestic Intelligence Division at FBI Headquarters and was involved in research, speaking and the preparation of documents for internal use as well as for government-wide distribution in security matters.
In retirement, he and his family moved to Williamsburg where he worked in banking and attended Williamsburg United Methodist Church serving as a property maintenance coordinator for a number of years. He spent summers at a vacation home in the Thousand Islands area of New York.
He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Barbara R. Sizoo of 58 years; a son, J. Richard Sizoo of Santa Rosa, CA; two daughters, Jennifer Sizoo and her husband Richard Chilcoat of Hopewell, NJ; Hilary J. S. Tyls and her husband Charles Tyls of Bedford, NH; also eight grandchildren: Ashley Shue, J.R., Will, and Lauren Sizoo; Wyatt and Hannah Chilcoat; Cortlund and Addison Tyls. Also, a brother William M. Sizoo, of Chaumont, NY.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, at 11am. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date, in addition to a celebration of his life. Remembrances may be made to the Williamsburg United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
