She was born April 17, 1939, in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of late Janet and Edward Bergonzoni. She was the oldest of three siblings with younger brothers, John and Don Bergonzoni.
She devoted her life to her family, raising four children and six grandchildren in Medfield, Massachusetts. She also served her community as a swim instructor and volunteered through her church as a divorce care counselor.
In 2000, she moved south and created a wonderful life and home surrounded by the historic beauty of Williamsburg, Virginia. She continued her volunteer service through the Floral Guild at the Williamsburg Community Chapel. She surrounded herself with wonderful and loving friends and family. She was the best “Nana” and “Great Nana” that ever lived. To know her was to love her and she never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend. For those that were blessed with her love and affection, life will never quite be the same.
She is survived by her three daughters, Corrin Smith, Laurie McGinnis, and Diane Engle; and son, Kenneth McGinnis; grandchildren, Renee Walcott, Sean and Kristina Engle, and Heather and Seth McGinnis.; five great grandchildren who she cherished, Natalie and Julia Walcott, Lucas Walcott, Gabe and Alana Paulin; and brother, Don Bergonzoni.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Bergonzoni and her grandson, Jeffrey Walcott.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 12th at Williamsburg Community Chapel (3899 John Tyler Highway) in Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) in her honor.
