Mary Kathryn Coppinger, 98, of Williamsburg, VA, and formerly Silver Spring, MD, passed away on September 21, 2022.
Mary Kathryn White was born on June 5, 1924, the daughter of Richard E. and Ruby E. (Ticer) White, in Washington, D.C. She was wed to Joseph Martin Coppinger, Sr. in 1947. Mary and Joe settled in Silver Spring, MD, where they raised their family, living in the same home for 65 years.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her Christian faith was strong and never wavered. She volunteered at St. Camillus Catholic Church and School (Silver Spring, MD), enjoyed playing bingo, shopping, and traveling to Florida and South Carolina. Mary was a life-long fan of the Washington Redskins football team. She loved blue crabs, holidays, and spending time in the sunshine.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Martin Coppinger, Sr.; her son, John Edward Coppinger; daughter-in-law, Barbara Coppinger; and great-grandson, Josh Morrison.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph Coppinger, Jr., Cheryl Coppinger Rush, James Coppinger (Kathy), and Carol Kruse (Ron); grandchildren, Laura Bridge (David), Cindy Coppinger, Tamara Coppinger Green (Lawrence), Keith Gallant, Kimberly Coppinger Davis (Bill), John Coppinger (Ashley), Ron Kruse, and Jennifer Findley Lopez (Gabriel); and eleven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Interment at George Washington Cemetery, Adelphi, MD.
