While growing up, Nancy enjoyed going flying with her brother, Carl D. Neidhold, who was a Naval Aviator. She also attended music camp, where she made friends with whom she kept in touch throughout her life. In 1957, Nancy graduated from The University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Microbiology. She was a member of Delta Gamma.
Nancy married Charles W. Spalding (Chuck) shortly after they graduated from college. They were sweethearts since eighth grade and had been married for 61 years when Chuck passed away. Nancy was a loving, caring wife and mother, who volunteered at hospitals and schools. She was also an avid and vocal fan of the Green Bay Packers, much to the amusement of her family and friends.
Nancy and Chuck retired to Williamsburg in 1991. They enjoyed golf and boating in the area. She and Chuck traveled to all seven continents. In more recent years, Nancy loved drives among Virginia’s trees, trimming the garden, reading, doing puzzles, and watching the many birds at her feeder. She also remained an avid sports fan, watching golf, baseball, and, of course, her Packers!
Nancy is survived by her son John and John’s wife, Sibila, of Frisco, TX; and daughter Debbie of Little Elm, TX. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.NelsenWilliamsburg.com for the Spalding family.
