

Nancy Elane Kilmon Strange, known to her friends and family as Elane, passed away in Williamsburg, Virginia on June 8, 2025. She was born in Tidwells, Virginia on August 27, 1949, the daughter of Asa William Kilmon and Fonnie Blackburn.
Elane is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Lauren Roger Strange Jr, her son Timothy William Strange and his spouse Sarah Elizabeth Sneed, son Daniel Kilmon Strange, daughter Hannah Strange Cramer and Spouse George Allan Cramer, grandchildren David Lauren Stolarski, Savannah Joyce Cramer, Samuel Thomas Cramer, Sister Beverley Luanne Kilmon Myers, Niece Ginger Ann Myers, Nephew Gary Thomas Myers and Spouse Jessica Ferrari Myers, and Great Niece Julia Marie Myers. She was preceded in death by her brother Asa Kenneth Kilmon.
Elane was very active in numerous historical lineage groups, her church, and her community.
She loved going to the coffee shop with her husband and grandchildren, going for long walks with her family, scrapbooking, making baskets, decorating cakes/baking desserts, attending lineage group meetings, and doing family research. She loved volunteering in children's schools by helping her children's teachers with many projects. She often helped her children's band directors by volunteering to chaperone band activities, helping band kids with their band uniforms, and selling concessions to help the band raise money. She was also an active Den Mother when her sons were in Cub scouts.
Elane was very active in the Williamsburg United Methodist Church as a member of the United Methodist women. During her time in the UMW she helped with many programs in the church by collecting food for the FISH program, collecting books for the church Bazaar, making Peanut Butter sandwiches for Blessings From His Table program, and teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the Amoroso/Ransone Circle and served as President of the United Methodist Women from 2007- 2008.
Elane had a love for American History and genealogy. She spent a lot of her time researching family history in the Library of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, many libraries throughout the Eastern of Virginia, and through many cemeteries throughout the country. Through her family research she discovered 22 ancestors that fought in the American Revolutionary War and was in the process of trying to find 5 more ancestors that fought during the Revolutionary War. She was a member of the Williamsburg Chapter Daughters of The American Revolution for 32 years from 1993-2025. She held many offices in the chapter including Librarian, Historian, Registrar, and Corresponding Secretary. She also held many local chairmanships- DAR Mountain Schools, DAR Good Citizens, and Public Relations. She served as the Williamsburg Chapter DAR regent from 2009- 2011. One of Elane's favorite parts of being a member of the DAR was helping people find their Revolutionary War ancestors, signing new DAR member's applications, and helping with the Children of the American Revolution.
From 1996- 2002 Elane served as the George Wythe Society Children Of The American Revolution Senior Society President when her children were active in the CAR. She went on to serve as the Virginia Senior State President from 2002-2006. During her time as senior Virginia state president of the CAR, Elane helped many senior leaders and CAR members throughout the state of Virginia from the Mountains of Virginia to Northern Virginia, and every place in between. She helped organize a CAR society called the Virginia Frontier Society from Scott County, Virginia, where many of the members were related to Patrick Porter, who was also one of her Revolutionary War Ancestors.
In 2006, Elane discovered that she was descended from William Presley, a member of the Jamestown House of Burgesses. She was a member of the Jamestown Society from 2007-2025.
Elane served as the Virginia Huguenot Society's President from 2011- 2013.
She was a member of Colonial Dames 17tn Century, where she was active in the Reverend James Blair Chapter. During her time in the Colonial Dames, she served as corresponding secretary, Chaplain, and Vice President of her chapter.
Elane was also a member of Daughters of the American Colonists- Fort Henry Chapter, where she served as chapter Librarian and Virginia State Chairman for Colonial Heritage (Visual Records) Committee.
She was also a member of the Tennessee Daughters of 1812- Elijah Cross Chapter, Honaker Family Association, Daughters of Colonial Wars, the Saint Andrew's Scottish Society, and the Order of Descendents of Colonial Cavaliers.
Her love of her family, friends, country and community can be seen in the many lives that she touched. There will always be a special place in everyone's hearts for Elane and she will really be missed. She truly made history and made her ancestors proud.
