Norman L. Larsen

On April 23, 2018, in Williamsburg, VA, Norm passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. He was the loving husband of Janis Larsen and father to sons, David and Robert (Jen). He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels & Effie Larsen; brother; Neil Larsen (Loleta); and sisters, Bonnie J. (Robert), and Nelsie Baskin. A graduate of Northwestern University School of Communications and also attended American University in Washington, DC. While at Northwestern, he did summer stock in Eaglesmere, PA. Norm joined the Air Force out of college and did his pilot training in Texas. While in Texas, he was an actor at The Theatre in the Round in Houston and had his own children's theatre. In 1960, he came to Washington, DC for 6 months but got Potomac fever and stayed until 2013 when he and his wife moved to Williamsburg, VA. He served his country in the Air Force Reserves at AAFB Md in 756thTAC and 459th Wing.

Norm began his career in Private Club management in 1966 at The Georgetown Club where he served for 27 ½ years. He joined the NCCMA in 1970 and CMAA and was president of NCCMA in 1976. After his retirement in 1993, he continued to serve as an interim manager at several distinguished clubs across the country such as Tavern Club in Chicago; Washington Golf and CC in Arlington, VA; University and Whist Club in Wilmington, DE; Hermitage CC in Richmond, VA; Belie Haven CC in Alexandria, VA; and Argyle CC in MD. He was a past president of Sommelier Society of Washington, DC; The Francis Scott Key Park Foundation in Georgetown; and Baili of Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs Greater Washington Chapter.

Norm served his God, country and fellow man and will be remembered for his beautiful voice, dedication to his church, the lives he touched and the many events and reunions he planned for his Air Force unit and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA.

A service in celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 30th at 11:00 AM at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Rd., Williamsburg, VA followed by a light lunch. Interment will be Tuesday, May 1, at 12:00 PM at Quantico National Cemetery with full military honors.
