Oliver Marshall Kendrick

Born in Hartford, CT; Oliver lived in East Hartford, CT for 61 years.

He was employed for 20 years at the former Newington Children’s Hospital and 20 years at United Technologies Research Center and then worked at various businesses as a security guard and an EMT.

In 1996, he retired and moved to Lightfoot, VA. He was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, CT and now a parishioner of Hickory Neck Episcopal Church in Toano, VA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Constance Hill Kendrick. He is also survived by the widow of their first son, Marshall, Lori Montana of Berlin, CT and a son, Jonathan H. Kendrick (Millet) of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Charles H. Kendrick (Jean) of East Hartford, CT; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Christopher (Christine) Reseigh of Oakton, VA; a brother-in-law, Norman Hill (Jacqueline) of Venice, FL; and three nieces and many cousins. He had twin grandchildren, Paul Marshall and Caroline Frances and their sister, Courtney Grace Kendrick of Berlin, CT, and a grandson, Justin Connor Kendrick of Tallahassee, FL.

He was a Boy Scout leader for over 40 years, reorganizing Troop 414, awarded the Silver Beaver and St. George Episcopal Church Awards and honored by becoming a Vigil Honor member in the Order of the Arrow. In his church, he served on the vestry, committees, usher captain, Sanctus Bell ringer and the New Era Historian.

He was a member of the Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, CT, the Connecticut Society of Genealogists, and the Sons of The American Revolution, Williamsburg Chapter. He had also been the Statistician-Genealogist for the Captain James and Chole Steele Skilton Family Association since 1969.

His family wishes to thank the nursing and aide care given Ollie by members of the staff of BrightStar Home Care and his medical care by Dr. Ralph of VPA of VA.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8 at 11:00am, at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church, 8300 Richmond Rd., Toano, VA with interment to follow in the church’s Memorial Garden.

Cursillo members and others with bells are asked to bring and ring their “Alleluia” bells.

Family will receive friends in a reception following the service in the narthex.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Hickory Neck Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
