

Rebecca Jean Raines, 81, of James City County, passed away on June 21, 2025. Born on March 4, 1944, in Western Maryland, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Marion Arnold and Betty Eleanor Arnold, as well as her beloved dog, Teddy Bear.
Rebecca graduated from Bruce High School, Class of 1962, in Westernport, Maryland, and later attended Maryland Medical Secretarial School in Hagerstown, Maryland. She retired from The College of William and Mary after nearly 30 years as an executive administrative assistant, where her professionalism and
dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends.
Rebecca was a member of Liberty Baptist Church York River and found joy in her faith, family, and the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and shopping for treasures that brought smiles to those she loved. Her warmth and love for cooking made holiday gatherings, especially Christmas, truly magical for her family.
Rebecca loved her family dearly, and her grandchildren held a uniquely special place in her heart. She cherished each of them individually, creating special memories with each one. A memory shared by all was her singing "You Are My Sunshine," a song that will forever echo in their hearts. Her warmth, her radiant smile, and her delightful sense of humor touched everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband, Woodrow "Woody" Wilson Raines Jr.; her son, Woodrow "Chip" (Tonya) Wilson Raines III; her daughters, Kelli (Scott) Shawn St. Clair and Angela (Bill) Raines Gallagher; her grandchildren, Grayson (Taylor) St. Clair, Hunter (Barrett) Raines, Bryce (Bella) St. Clair, Michael (Amy) Hays, Pierce Raines, Addison Gallagher, and Camden Gallagher; and her great-grandchildren, Will Raines, Brooks St. Clair, Bayne St. Clair, and Riley St. Clair. She is also survived by her siblings Ronald Arnold and Betty Ann Aronhalt.
A Visitation will be held on June 26, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held on June 27, 2025, at 11:00 am at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg.
