
Robert Byers McClellan, 87, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on October 23, 2018. Born in Athens, Alabama on August 5, 1931, he was the son of John Beattie McClellan and Lucile Moody McClellan. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama and then attended the University of Alabama for a year before enlisting in the Army and serving 18 months in Korea. After military service he returned to Alabama graduating with a BS degree in Commerce and serving as President of Kappa Sigma fraternity.
Following graduation he worked for Travelers Insurance Company. After a transfer to Atlanta, he began a long career with General Electric Credit Corporation, retiring to form The McClellan Company in 1979.
Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Sue McRae, daughters Margaret M. Driscoll and son-in-law Sean Driscoll of Williamsburg, Mary M. Reeves of Houston and his grandchildren, McRae, Parker, Ben, Meme, Reagan, Avery and nephew, William Edward McClellan, Jr. of Charlotte.
He was an active member of the community while living in Atlanta and was a member of Ansley Golf Club, The Phoenix Society of Atlanta, The Buckhead Club, Red Elephant Club, and the Cathedral of St. Philip.
After moving to Williamsburg in 2004, he became an usher at Bruton Parish, a member of the Williamsburg German Club and enjoyed traveling to many foreign countries.
Bob loved his family, his friends and Alabama football. He will be sorely missed.
