Robert Henry “Bobby” Newsome of Williamsburg, VA was born on August 20, 1933 in Emporia, VA. He was one of eleven siblings born to the late Salem I. and Lucy W. Newsome. Bobby passed onto his eternal home on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Sentara Williamsburg Medical Center.
He is survived by his son, Robert H. Newsome, Jr. and wife, Joy of Alabama; brothers, Richard (Starla), John (Edith), Donald Lee (Marion), Frankie (Linda) and James (Ruth); sister, Jo Anne House; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Irvin, Albert, Russell and Gene Newsome.
Bobby retired from the Naval Weapon Station in Yorktown, VA after 30 years of service. He was a gifted woodworker and owned and operated Newsome’s Woodwork for 10 years. A visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Friday, March 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14 at Emporia Cemetery on Brunswick Ave., Emporia, VA.
