He was preceded in death by his spouse, Betty J. Swaney; father, Robert L. Swaney; and mother, Thelma J. Swaney.
Robert received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s Degree from Chapman University. He served in the United States Air Force for nearly 30 years and was stationed throughout the Far East and United States. Robert loved to travel and explore, learn new things, go to the circus, and attend live music concerts of all genres. He developed long lasting friendships all over the world.
He is survived by his son, Brent (Joni) Swaney; daughter, Betsy (Jonathan) Kauffman; grandchildren, Jett and Van Kauffman; and brothers, William and James Swaney.
An Interment Service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, South Carolina.
