My Dear Friend Sylvia,
I wanted to wait to write this after the beautiful service today. It goes without saying that many people loved and respected Ross, as well as his witness for our Lord. Ross was a true gentleman and friend. Yes, John and I were fortunate enough to receive some of his famous applesauce which disappeared quickly, but I have to add his famous homemade chicken salad. There were many nights you and Ross would drop off his chicken salad on evenings when I worked late. Not only did it make for a delicious dinner, it also filled my soul for the care in which it was given.
The love and laughter you and Ross shared is a shining example to us all. We will all miss Ross, but one glorious day we will see him again.
Sending our love and prayers.

My Friend Ross, I was saddened to learn of Ross’s passing. When I think of him it brings a smile to my face. We had a friendship like many people who knew him. It’s hard to put into words exactly what I mean. I can just say he was the a person who could be counted on. He loved his family, I know because he expressed it to me many time. Although I had not talked with him in a long while I thought of him often. I feel fortunate to have known him. He made the world a better place. Rest In Peace my friend.

Dear Sylvia,
I never spoke to your husband that he didn’t say how much you meant to him & how very happy he was. He spoke of you with such love and thankfulness for your years together. He was a true hero to me and my family ...better to us than we could have dreamed. He changed so many generations in our family by his deeds. I know our Lord welcomed His servant Ross Payne home with trumpets but God also knows the sadness left behind. Our family loves you and thank you for sharing your kind, generous, humble husband with us through the years. Love, Pam, David and Ian

Ross was my landlord for many years and was one of the kindest gentleman I have ever met. He was very helpful and accommodating to our small business and I will always be in debt to him. A race well run.

We will always remember Ross’s sharing of ‘how to cook delicious applesauce’ and his bringing us apples to make the applesauce. Ross was a true gentleman. Always offering good advice or a helping hand. He was not a complainer, and had a great smile. He will be missed by the numerous individuals whose lives he touched for the better.
