Steve Danchak Jr., 61, of Williamsburg, Virginia, was taken to be with the Lord on September 11, 2025. He was born on December 16, 1963, in Harris County, Texas. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Steve Danchak Sr., his brother, Randy Danchak, and his beloved aunt, Blair Rutledge (“Aunt Honey”). He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Danchak (Christopher). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Mason Stapleton and Taytum Stapleton; his brother, Marvin Danchak; his nephews; and his lifelong companion, Bonnie Gilman.
Steve lived a life guided by faith and love. For more than three decades, he devoted himself to plumbing, a trade through which he built many lasting relationships. Outside of work, he found joy in many ways—he had a true gift for bowling, loved the excitement of baseball, and enjoyed time on the basketball court. He also enjoyed a good card game, sharing laughter and time with family and friends. Most of all, he loved being outdoors, especially when it meant tossing a ball or playing sports with his grandson Mason.
Away from the games, Steve enjoyed reading but nothing compared to his passion for music. Whether listening to his favorite songs, discovering new artists, or simply letting melodies drift through his home, music was the love that carried through his life—his truest joy and comfort.
Steve was known for his lighthearted, one-of-a-kind personality. Authentic and true to himself in every way, he marched to the beat of his own drum. Those who knew him will forever remember the humor, warmth, and light he brought into their lives. Above all, his greatest happiness came from the time he spent with his family. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A memorial service for Steve will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23188.
