It is with immeasurable sadness that the family of Vera C. Guertin shares that she passed peacefully from this earth on January 5, 2026, due to complications from pneumonia. She spent her later years in Williamsburg, Virginia, a place she and her husband came to call home.
Vera was first and foremost a devoted and loving wife, mother, and sister. As the spouse of a United States Air Force career veteran, she embraced the demands of military life with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience. Born and raised in Farmington, Connecticut, she met and married Richard J. Guertin of Elmwood, Connecticut. Together, they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and service. Richard’s Air Force career took their family across the country and around the world, experiences Vera navigated with calm determination while raising their two children and creating a sense of home wherever they landed.
Family was always Vera’s greatest priority, but she also found deep purpose in her work as a Labor and Delivery registered nurse. She had a special calling for bringing new life into the world and took great pride in caring for mothers and babies in hospitals wherever the Air Force stationed their family. Her compassion, skill, and quiet confidence left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike. Vera retired from
Sentara Hospital in the late 1980s.
In retirement, Vera and Richard settled in Williamsburg, Virginia, where they enjoyed a slower pace of life together and the comfort of community and family. Their years there were marked by shared memories, enduring love, and gratitude for a life well lived. Vera is survived by her brother, Colin Cameron, and his wife Marian of The Villages, Florida; her daughter, Gwyn Guertin of Williamsburg, Virginia; her grandson Chadd
Molloy and wife Leeron, of Richmond, VA: and her son, Gregg Guertin of Atlanta, Georgia. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Vera will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery located at 1 Memorial Avenue, Arlington, VA 22211, United States. The service is scheduled for March 6, 2026, from 9:00 am.
