

Virginia Butler Pierson, born September 1, 1925, passed away on August 20, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Alpha Omega Carr and Charles Benton Butler. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Pierson, Edward T. Howard, James L. Jackson, and son, Benton Luther Jackson. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Butler Pierson; son-in-law Harold Lee Letterman, a grandson, Benton Takota Letterman, and granddaughter, Eryn Virginia Letterman; a great grandson, Aiden Tyler Jesser Letterman; a step son Edward T. Howard Jr., and wife Jean; a step grandson, Christopher Letterman and his wife Kristin, their children Meghan and Trevor; also a step granddaughter, Michele McBride, and her son, Joshua McBride.
Virginia was a member of the Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Virginia where she was very active and made many friends.
Before moving to Williamsburg, Virginia was an Interior Decorator and Designer in Delray Beach, Florida; recognized in the early seventies as the top Interior Designer in Palm Beach County Florida and member of ASID for over 50 years. Although Virginia won a full scholarship to Juilliard for voice, she graciously turned it down to pursue her true passion which was architecture and interior design.
Virginia lived life to the fullest, had a deep faith in God, loved to travel, and was a devoted friend to many. She exuded the grace and style of a by-gone era and will be deeply missed by all.
Virginia will be buried in the family cemetery where there will be a graveside service on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 3:00pm at Chattanooga Memorial Park in White Oak, TN. In lieu flowers, please donate to your church, hospice or favorite charity.
