Derek Ryan Alverson

Derek Ryan Alverson, 36 years old, died unexpectedly on February 28, 2023 in Washington D.C. where he lived. Derek was born 10/24/86 in Lansing, MI and graduated from Williamston High School in 2005.

He was the Assistant General Manager at All-Purpose Capitol Riverfront restaurant in Washington D.C. Derek cared deeply for the restaurant and the staff where he worked and shared his knowledge and skill with the staff there.

Derek loved to travel, dance and being with friends. He loved to play board games and was very competitive. He loved his dog Lito and training him. Derek loved meeting new people and was very good at telling bad jokes.

Derek was a loving and remarkably kind human being. He loved his partner, Dominic, family and friends and loved spending time with his nieces. We will greatly miss his smile, laugh, humor, his empathy and his big, big heart. While our hearts are broken, our Faith is Strong, knowing he now celebrates in heaven with Jesus, his brother Ryan and all those that passed before him.

His family surviving are Dominic Grant (partner), parents, Tim & Georgetta (Jetty Simpson) Alverson, Siblings, Shaun Alverson (Jackilyn Slusser), Kelsey Alverson (Andrew Hettinger) and nieces - Harlow, Hazel & Hadley Alverson and Josie, Ellie, and Amelia Hettinger, Aunt & Uncles John & Suzanne Madden (Simpson), Keith & Greer Alverson (Vastine), Sheila Alverson & Wayne Seely and Ken Simpson. He was preceded in death by his brother Ryan Lee Alverson, Grandparents Percy & Betty Alverson and Norman & Eva Parisian.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 10th 5-7 pm and funeral, Saturday March 11th at 2:00pm with lunch to follow. at Williamston Free Methodist Church 4400 N Williamston Rd, Williamston, MI 48895.
