Kenneth Albert Christie, Jr., aged 71, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 at home with his family at his side. He was born on January 5, 1949 to Kenneth A., Sr and Kathryn Todd Christie in Natrona Heights, PA.
Ken graduated from Freeport High School in 1968. He received his draft notice, but enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served for 23 ½ years. He served in both the Vietnam War and Gulf War. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired at the rank of Sergeant Major in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken, Sr and Katie Todd Christie, and his brother, Edward Christie.
He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Judith Simonis Christie, two sons, Cameron C. (Jessica) of
Spanaway, WA, Aaron M. of Gahanna, OH. Four grandchildren, Kyle, Patrick, Sylas and Savannah. He is
also survived by three brothers, Roger (Elizabeth), Tom and David. Three sisters, Maxine, Loretta
(Calvin) Willson and Pamela Ray. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Dottie Vaughn and brother and
sister-in-law, John and Sarah Simonis.
Ken loved working in his yard and gardens. He constructed a large beautiful rock garden, many flower
beds and loved watching the different birds at the feeder. His favorite was his groundhog friend. He
was a tinkerer, always coming up with new gadgets. He shared his help with neighbors when needed.
The empty chair at the garage door is now retired and at peace. No more waves to the community of
cars, but his smiles will continue to shine bright.
A celebration of Ken’s life will take place at a future date. Honors will be at the Great Lakes National
Cemetery.
