Mave “Miki” Coxon (Senkow) of Haslett passed away on Sunday, December 29th at age 72 after a battle with cancer throughout 2024. Miki was born in Muskegon, Michigan to Walter and Marva Senkow. She attended Muskegon High School and went on to marry her school pen pal Lester “Les” Coxon in Liverpool, England in 1970.
Miki attended Liverpool university where she won a scholarship to Cranbrook College, then she completed her degree at Grand Valley State University. Miki spent most of her career working for the State of Michigan. She later worked as a consultant through both Accenture and Deloitte, frequently traveling around the country to share her expertise with clients.
Miki loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with loved ones. She was particularly proud of her grandchildren and, along with her husband Les, enjoyed annual summer vacations to Cedar Point with them. Another very important part of Miki’s family was her beloved cats. She was always passionate about cats and rescued her four-legged family members through various local rescue groups. She was also a lover of horses, often taking her children riding in their youth.
Fun-loving and energetic, Miki had a quick wit and loved telling stories of mischief during her youth and fun times shared with family and friends. She was optimistic and had a joy for life which shined through to those around her.
Miki is survived by her loving husband Les of Haslett, sons Jay (Amy) of Perry, Paul of Grosse Pointe, Adam (Nykky) of Charlotte, grandchildren Matthew, Eli, Natalie, and Skyler, brother Walter of Pensacola, niece Dana of Boyne and nephew Darek (Kim) of North Muskegon, and lifelong friends Debbie Coleman and Phyllis Vanderlaan.
