Randy Lee Nelson, age 66, entered the embrace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 28, 2022, to be forever reunited with his beloved parents, Marilyn Kay (Marsh) Nelson and Roger Leonard Nelson.
Randy was a devoted son, father and loving brother. Randy loved time with his son and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cycling, reading and was an avid gun enthusiast. Randy cared for people in his physical therapy practice for many years in Traverse City and was quick to offer help for the aches and pains of others. Randy had a deep appreciation for the beauty of Northern Michigan and he considered Traverse City home. Randy had a special place in his heart for Hillsdale College where he played baseball and did his undergraduate studies. He supported this college all of his adult years and was always excited to attend events and football games.
While Randy faced many adversities in his life while dealing with Parkinson’s, he was always aware of God’s sovereignty, mercy and goodness.
Randy leaves behind his son, Reid of Traverse City, sister Lori (Robert) Briggs, brother Keith (Sandy) Nelson as well as nieces and nephews, Stewart Hicks, Kate Nix, Rob Briggs, and Mattie Nelson and numerous cousins and extended family.
Randy enjoyed his church family at New Hope in East Lansing where he regularly attended and participated in the Men’s Bible Study group. We are forever thankful to this special group of men, who’s selfless support and friendship to Randy during his time in the Lansing Area, was such a reflection of the love of Christ through their time and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held at New Hope Church, 2170 E. Saginaw Hwy, E. Lansing Michigan, on Sunday, May 15 at 2:00pm with lunch to follow.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grwilliamston.com for the Nelson family.
