Richard J. McLeod

We are saddened to share that Richard (Dick) McLeod, at the age of 90, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 at his home in Webberville. As much as we will miss him, we are comforted by the knowledge that he is in Heaven with Jesus rejoicing with those that have gone before him.

Richard was born in 1932 in Toledo Ohio to Bain and Leota McLeod. He has one brother Ralph (Lisy) McLeod. Richard was married to Shirley (Wilson) McLeod, just shy of 67 years. He was a loving and devoted husband. The couple traveled the world together and raised a beautiful family. They share two children, Shea and Scott, Three grandchildren - Heather (Joe) Eifert, Joshua (Maria) Nystrom, and Inez McLeod, They also have 8 treasured great-grandchildren.

Richard was a professor at MSU for over 30 years. He also taught many international classes, including 1 year in Bangkok, Thailand. He began teaching physics and later specialized in teaching educators how to use technology in the classroom.

Dick loved family, outdoors, travel, games, adventure, knowledge, music and his John Deere tractor. He always had to have the “newest gadget”! He reveled in studying and debating theology. Dick was known by family and friends for his mischievous behavior, good sense of humor and love of sweets. Caregivers commented that he kept his humor till the end :)

Richard was a follower of Christ. He was a respected leader in the church, he taught Sunday school, and sang the Lord’s praises in the choir . He shared faith and discipled many young believers. Richard and Shirley have always considered themselves “Blessed”. They gave through the good and the bad times. We know that he will be welcomed into his Heavenly home, Matthew 25:23: “His Lord said unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over a few things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

We will celebrate the life of Richard McLeod on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Williamston. Visitation will be held at 1:00 followed by the Funeral at 2:00. We will then proceed to Alchin Farms Cemetery in Webberville for a graveside prayer.

Pastor Chuck Pierpont, Pastor Mike Metzger and Pastor Tim Christoson will officiate. The soloist for the service will be Randy Roelle.
