

Gerri was born on September 7, 1939 to Raydon and Sybil (nee Kinner) Hubbard in Syracuse, New York. She was a graduate of Eastwood High School and Buffalo State University.
As a teen, Gerri worked for the Syracuse Herald Journal as the “Junior Set” columnist. She was given the “Honorary Mayor of the Town” award in recognition of her “unselfish devotion in volunteering her time, efforts and sympathy for others” while working with several volunteer organizations. She continued to demonstrate this dedication to others throughout her life working as a school teacher in Marcellus and Liverpool, New York, and was a devoted mother to her four children. She continued to give her time to a variety of organizations, including Habitat for Humanity and Literacy CNY, working with both longtime Syracuse residents and newly arrived refugees from Russia, Iraq, and Ghana. She was also an active volunteer at Sarah House, Onondaga Free Library, and St. Charles & St. Ann’s Parish.
Gerri was married to her beloved husband Michael J. Strojnowski for 60 years, who led the way to heaven four days before her.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Allison) Strojnowski, and three daughters, Karen (William) Dills, Jill (Louis) Gebhard, and Laura (Andrew) Martinez-Fonts and nine grandchildren: Zachary Strojnowski, Eric Strojnowski, Anna Strojnowski, Sarah Dills, Emily Dills, Elena Gebhard, Katherine Gebhard, Owen Gebhard and Eva Martinez-Fonts. In addition, she is survived by her brother Raydon “Chip” Hubbard, and was predeceased by her siblings Richard and Constance. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Buffalo, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Central New York or St. Charles & St. Ann’s Parish, Syracuse.
