My thoughts and prayers are with the Filippone family at this sad point in time.  Have known them for many years.  Rest in peace John.

Christmas Eve at the Filippone's was a great tradition for the Orlando-Levines throughout the years. Great memories of Margaret and I sharing family stories, photos and good times at the Filippone's home. I am saddened that I won't be able to share the holidays again with Uncle John. Uncle John was one of the sweetest people I've ever known.  My earliest memories are of him running a candy and ice cream shop in Buffalo. As a five-year-old, I thought he was the Angel of Treats!  And that shop suited him because he was so sweet and always made me laugh.  Later, I recognized that he was a kind and tender husband to my Aunt Mary.  I admire their relationship very much.   A few years ago my daughters Amy and Melissa and I visited Aunt Mary and Uncle John.  I will never, ever forget Uncle John dancing with all of us in the kitchen.  He emanated so much joy, love and acceptance. He made the world a much better place. He will be greatly missed.

We are so sad to hear of Mr. Philipone's passing.  I will forever remember him teaching me to bowl and commenting on my "banana ball".  Love to all of you.  Ninety-six is a pretty good run and he certainly made the most of his time.  RIP, Mr. Philipone.  Linda Riek and family

A wonderful neighbor and influence on my life. I recall Mr. & Mrs Filippone being the first people to welcome my parents and our family to Chestnut Hills South. My deepest condolences and prayers to the family. 

I will always remember Uncle John's quick wit and delicious desserts when we visited during the holidays. He made us feel at home in his home which speaks volumes.

We will forever be grateful for Uncle John, welcoming us into his home with Aunt Mary and giving us a warm and loving place to gather in Buffalo on Christmas Eve.  Every year, without fail, he would push us into the kitchen to make sure we filled up on those famous Filippone desserts. We will miss him dearly and send all of our love to Aunt Mary, Karen, Suzy and Johnny.

Uncle John was the best Uncle in the world with the most amazing sense of humor.  He will be sadly missed.  Who are we going to eat Ted's hot dogs and onion rings with???

John was a good neighbor and a great friend. Have spent time the past few days remembering the good old days and his wry sense of humor.
