Kevin Kelly

Kevin Kelly passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026 after a long illness. He was born in Salamanca, NY to Thomas and Rita (Haynoski) Kelly in September 1952. He graduated from Batavia State School for the Blind in 1970. He spent a post graduate year at Archbishop Walsh High School in 1971. Kevin received a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology from Marquette University. After graduating he moved to San Diego, California where he began his counseling career at Social Advocates for Youth. Kevin received his Master’s degree in counseling from San Diego State University. He worked in the Chula Vista school district with elementary students. He later counseled adults adjusting to vision loss at the San Diego Center for the Blind.

Kevin enjoyed playing piano, cooking, birding by ear, and travel. He was a generous spirit who loved spending time with family and friends. Kevin was predeceased by a younger brother, Michael Kelly. He is survived by his sisters: Maureen Kelly in Panama City Beach, FL; Kathleen Kelly-Banzhaf (Steven) in Buffalo, NY; Colleen Kelly-Puskar (Joseph) in Erie PA and Eileen Kelly (Stan Wantuck) in Canandaigua, NY and several nieces and nephews.
