He was born to Ronald Sr. and Frances (Mallery) Galloway on August 25, 1932 in Syracuse, NY.
After his graduation from Charlotte High School in Rochester, NY, Ron attended the University of Rochester where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering… graduating with the prestigious Tau Beta Pi honors. Before his graduation, Ron enlisted in the US Army serving 2 years as a Morse Code Intercept/Operator stationed in Germany—an experience he enjoyed sharing about for all his days.
Following college, Ron went to work at Worthington Corporation in Buffalo, NY where he met the love of his life, Jean Marie Boldt, who he married on March 27, 1960.
Ron had two priorities in his life… his work and his family. The bulk of his career was spent as the Division Manager for Joy Manufacturing in Cheektowaga, NY after which he, along with his business partner and close friend, Salvator Bonnetto, purchased Kohler Machine Products in Lockport, NY where he was active in the local business community and worked until his retirement.
Ron was a voracious reader and walking encyclopedia consuming several books a week for much of his life. He loved to birdwatch and to fish and to be out in nature. The family cabin was his happy place. He was actively involved in his children's youth activities… coaching the Navy football team for many years, serving as Treasurer for BSA Troop 445, announcing wrestling meets for Williamsville South HS and leading the elevator project at Williamsville United Methodist Church. Ron was also very handy… regularly volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, fixing up his home and he loved spending time in his later years working on the family cabin.
Ron is survived by his children Julie and Craig (Emily) Galloway, his granddaughter Breana McGee, his two grandsons, Collin and Aidan Galloway. He is the brother of the late Anne Galloway and is also survived by sister Carol (Galloway) Kitts and brothers James (Jan) Galloway and Robert Galloway.
The family will be present to receive friends Saturday, February 22nd, from 2-5pm at Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville. Additional details for internment services later in March will be forthcoming.
