

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Hilda Weinberg, sister, Dr. Marilyn Weinberg, and brother-in-law, Leonard Kaplan. She is survived by her sister, Hope Ellen Kaplan of Camarillo, California; daughters, Ileen Spack of Houston, Texas and Helena Brown of New York, New York; son, David Brown and his wife, Beverly Adler, both of New York, New York; grandchildren, Hayley Wagreich, Aaron Spack, Samuel Wagreich, Griffin Brown, Zoë Spack and Roman Brown; nephews, Geoffrey and Glenn Kaplan; and great grandnieces, Hannah and Ally Kaplan.
Born 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, Barbara never lost her Midwestern touch. She attended Sullivan High School, followed by the University of Illinois, and pursued a successful career as a real estate broker.
Barbara dedicated herself to her family, raising three loving children and later enjoyed her time as a doting grandmother.
Barbara was committed to living a long and fulfilled life. She navigated challenges with her strong will, boundless determination, sharp wit and, most of all, her love of travel, art and the newest technology. A loyal friend, family historian and president of her Houston Hadassah chapter, she was incredibly close to her beloved cousins, community and fellow Brookdale residents. She gathered her loved ones with great food and her famous banana cake.
She will be greatly missed by all.
