Carole was born in Providence, RI on November 10, 1937. She grew up in Central Falls, RI and graduated from Pembroke College of Brown University, in 1959. She met Dr. Philip Liebson in New London, Conn, in 1964, and they married the following year, living together for over 58 years—in New York City and then from 1972 onward in Wilmette. They have two sons, Elliot (Cindy) and Jonathan, and three grandchildren: Genevieve, Naomi, and Yani.
Carole was an enthusiastic reader and follower of Political Science and languages, earning a Master’s in Linguistics at Northeastern Illinois University. She taught ESL at Truman College and previously worked at Holt Rinehart and Winston book publishers in New York. She enjoyed working in the garden, and her favorite flower was alstroemeria. She was a longtime patron of the Lyric Opera and Chicago Symphony. Carole has sung in her synagogue choir and attended Torah Study at Sukkat Shalom, where she got her Bat Mitzvah in 2010.
