I can't remember exactly how I met CHICK or when. I believe i was searching pushups and some how i started talking with him online. i was very new to being online.. he told me about his life and I never forgot how amazing he was.. he was a very good human being... he took the time to tell me about training and I appreciated him. he was 1 of few that helped shape my mind set about pushups and fitness.. 

as many know, i wrote a story about chick 15 years after his accident. i sent it to my new trier senior english teacher. she said i should consider publishing it. unfortunately, i got busy with 2 kids and put it in a drawer. about 20 years later i wanted to read it to my new wife. i decided to go to internet and see if i could find chick. within 10 minutes i emailed him. he emailed me back . i start crying from emotion. i told him about  the story, and i sent it to him. he enjoyed it. in the end of story i said there were many famous persons that went to new trier, but in my opinion you personal feat was the greatest. rest in peace chick. your fortitude and drive has inspired many to be the best they can be. the first time i met you, you did 200 pushups in the sand. you and your feats will always be indelible in my mind.

Chick loved the law and a really good joke.  He was gentle with words and  looked for good in every person. He was my colleague and I'll remember him always.

I have known Chick for over 40 years: first as husband-to-be of my best friend, Doris, later as a good friend of the family.  I remember accompanying Chick to pick up his first new car.  He drove out of the dealership directly into a parked car!  I remember his joy at his wedding.  I remember the couple becoming a family with the addition of Katie and Sherry.  I remember so many of his good and not so good times.  I especially remember that once a year he would take my husband and me to Walker Brothers and then to a summer music cal at Gibson Park in Wilmette.  Besides being an amazing record holder, besides being able to remember EVERYTHING, besides having great focus, Chick was a human being with all the joys, uncertainties, hopes, and fears as most of us.  I will miss hom.

We met in 2nd grade. I was best man at his wedding and he at mine. I will miss him greatly.

He wrote this:
During my life, I have fought many battles, winning some while losing others. After a loss, I still remember the moment when I stood on top of the world. That one act proved to me what I was capable of if I set my mind, body, and spirit to it.
My greatest hope is that during my final battle I will be able to look back on my life and know in my heart that I struggled well.

Everyone enjoyed working with Chick. He shared his life's story with me. What an inspiration and a wonderful man.  We will all miss him.
