Charles Locker was born on July 31, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended William Penn Grammar School and Austin High School on the old West side. He attended college at Navy Pier and received his JD at John Marshall Law School. He served in the Army and was part of the JAG Corps. In 1961, he married Shirley Rosenberg and had three children: Jack, Lauren, and Barbara. As a child, he spent his summers in South Haven, Michigan and throughout his lifetime he shared his love of the great outdoors with both family and friends at his summer home on Saddle Lake. Throughout the years, Charles worked as a successful attorney in the Chicagoland area. Often his relationships with both colleagues and clients flourished and spilled over into his personal life. Chuck created many friendships that lasted a lifetime. Lifelong friends included Shelly Levin and Jack Hornung to name a few. A few of his affiliations included the Chicago Bar Association and the Great Vest Side (GVS) Club. One of the biggest joys throughout his lifetime was spending time with his family. He had a very close relationship with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and cousins. Imparting Jewish traditions and participating in holidays were joyous experiences for him. Charles had many hobbies that he was passionate about including fishing, watching football, doing daily crossword puzzles, and reading and learning about history. He used that knowledge to relay its impact upon the world today. He was incredibly philanthropic. Some of his favorite charities included the American Lung Association, Smile Train, and multiple worldwide charitable organizations. At 25 years old, Charles met Shirley, the love of his life. As the years went on, their love blossomed. They spent their free time visiting art museums, attending the symphony and the opera, and traveling. He will forever be missed, loved, and cherished. Zecher Tzadik Livracha (May his memory be for a blessing).
