OBITUARY

Ellen K. Sturm

17 October, 1941 – 16 February, 2023
IN THE CARE OF

Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home

Ellen K. Sturm was born to the late John and Florence Goggin on October 17, 1941. Ellen passed away on February 16, 2023 with family by her side after a long illness.

Ellen’s family trips with her parents and brother as a young girl sparked a lifelong love of travel and all things outdoors. She took many trips with family and friends, always with her camera along. Her happy place was the mountains. Ellen loved gardening both inside and in her yard, as well as watching her bird feeders and listening to the birds who visited.

Ellen was blessed with a loving family. She married Herbert Sturm (deceased) in 1978. They met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. Herb introduced her to the north woods of Wisconsin with which she immediately fell in love. Ellen and Herb shared many years and happy times on the lake fishing and boating with her step-children, Candy (Dan) Tiltges, Kim (Steve) Balow and Tracy (Doug) Sturm. As the years passed and the family grew, Ellen and Herb enjoyed sharing fun times with their grandchildren Jennifer (James) Kim, Dan (Cara) Tiltges, Rick (Beth) Tiltges, Jim Tiltges, Sandy (Rick) Klima and Chris (Karly) Tiltges. Ellen remained close to her brother John (Cherie) Goggin, Jr. throughout her life. They could often be found walking the paths at the botanic gardens or talking plant care in each other’s yards. Ellen also had a niece, Katherine Frisch and nephew, Robert (Amy) Goggin and a great nephew, Tyler, and niece, Anna, all of whom she adored. Ellen was a constant in their lives.

Ellen was an accountant until she retired. In retirement, Ellen and Herb continued to pursue their love of family, lake pursuits and travel. Ellen’s faith was a cornerstone of her life and provided comfort during her illness. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenview where she had many lifelong friends.

The family wants to thank all Ellen’s friends for their constant support. We would also like to thank all the caregivers who took such amazing care of Ellen in the final days of her life.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.WmScottFuneralHome.com for the Sturm family.
