

Harriet Hackman (88) passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband Morris Hackman and her sister Toby Rockwell. Harriet is survived by her three children, Ilene Hackman, Judy (Andy) Shor, and Allen Hackman, her four grandchildren, Justin (Rebecca) Shor, Noah (Gabriella Shapiro) Shor, Lexie Hackman, and Kendall Hackman, and her niece Debbie (Marc) Posner, Ellen (Brad) Falkoff, Susie Feldman and nephew Jay (Katie) Lubarsky.
Harriet was originally from Brooklyn, NY where she lived until her teenage years before moving with her family to Hyde Park, Illinois. After marrying Morris in 1958, they both made Evanston their home where she lived for over 60 years. Harriet was a fixture at Chute School where she worked as the 8th grade administrative assistant for over 20 years. She always had an upbeat and positive outlook on life and it was infectious to all those around her. She could never spend enough time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
A huge thanks goes out to the amazing staff at Belmont Village where Harriet lived for the last four years of her life. They made it feel like home and she was loved by all and was known as “Harriet the Dancer.” Special thanks to the team at Sanctuary Hospice for making her final days so peaceful.
Friends and family will gather for a graveside service for Harriet that will be held on Sunday June 18th, 2023 at 11am Central Time at Waldheim Cemetery, Yanover gate #125 (Greenberg Rd.) Forest Park, Illinois.
Memorial donations can be made to Belmont Village, 500 Mchenry Road, Buffalo Grove, Illinois 60089 in memory of Harriet Hackman. All proceeds will go towards staff appreciation.
