Kathy was, at heart, devoted to her family. They were the center of her world, and she shaped her life around caring for them, supporting them, and being present in the everyday moments that mattered most. Her love was steady and generous, expressed through patience, reliability, and quiet acts of devotion.
She also had a lifelong love of reading. Books were her constant companions and a source of comfort, curiosity, and joy. Reading was a way for her to learn, reflect, and recharge, and it remained an important part of her daily life.
Professionally, Kathy worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio. She approached her work with care and responsibility, and she also volunteered in the elementary school library her children attended, combining her love of reading with her commitment to her family and community.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Harley Kaplan; her son, Aaron Kaplan; her daughter, Lenore Balson; her brother, Jack Combs; and her three grandchildren, Hazel Kaplan, Sebastien Balson, and Nathan Kaplan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond E. Combs and Joyce S. Combs.
Kathy will be remembered for her deep love of family, her quiet strength, and the care she showed to the people she loved.
