Kevin Michael Kaitchuck, age 64 of Morton Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 11, 2025. He fought a courageous three-year battle with prostate cancer. Kevin was born in Evanston, Illinois to Ted and Donna Kaitchuck (née Bierley). Kevin attended Martin Luther King Lab School in Evanston, Highcrest Elementary School in Wilmette and New Trier High School in Winnetka, and graduated from Highland Park High School, where he spent his senior year. He worked as an electronics technician for Ametek / Rauland Borg in Mount Prospect, IL for twenty-one years. Prior to that he worked at Siemens and Motorola, during which he obtained an Associate’s degree from DeVry University. Kevin loved the outdoors and nature, and spending time with friends and family. He had many interests and hobbies including, music, cooking, gardening, reading (especially Stephen King), art and outdoor adventures. Growing up he spent summers in Douglas/Saugatuck, Michigan with his Grandparents, Aunts and Uncle. He met lifelong friends there where he went swimming, sailing, waterskiing, boating and enjoyed many beach parties, often playing his guitar. Kevin’s love for music stretched from Beethoven to Led Zeppelin and everything in between. He played the piano, cello, guitar, banjo and he loved to sing, especially when jamming with friends and family. In his later years Kevin spent time in the North Woods of Wisconsin where he camped and fished. Kevin was shy, but had a great sense of humor and enjoyed seeing people’s reactions when laughing at his wild and outrageous jokes. He actually would say what others might think but not say. People loved him and he was the life of the party. Animals were an important part of Kevin’s life. He loved his mother’s dogs, Holly and Ginger, her cat Blue and his fish Blue. Kevin had kind, compassionate caregivers. His family is incredibly grateful to them. Up until the end Kevin maintained his sense of humor, kindness, love for rock and roll, appreciation of nature, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude to everyone in his life, which was full of wonderful and varied experiences.
Kevin is survived by his beloved mother, Donna Kaitchuck of Evanston, IL, his caring sister and brother-in-law, Linda (Jim) Estes of Lake Forest, IL, loving niece, Katharine Estes of Highwood, IL, and loving nephew, Alexander Estes of Lake Forest, IL, his treasured Aunts, Arlene Philp and Margie Dvorsky, both of Douglas, MI and his mother’s adoring dog, Ginger.
